Alchester's Nick Cherry (pictured) finished a creditable eighth in the veteran men's category at an international 7K mountain race in Czernichow, Poland.
Cherry was selected to run for Great Britain against athletes from across Europe.
Early on, he found himself among the front-runners, but lost ground at the first of several climbs.
However, although he could not make inroads into the leading pack, he picked up the pace to clock 40mins 2secs.
Meanwhile, Alchester, based at Bicester, are holding a ladies-only Candleford Canter 10K on Sunday, October 29.
