Oxford’s Hannah England was one of the first athletes to try out the running track at the Olympic Stadium.
And the World Championship silver medallist was thrilled to run alongside London 2012 chairman Lord Coe as the £486m venue was unveiled yesterday.
England said: “It was great to see the track completed and ready for the Games.
“The facilities look amazing and the Olympic committee have done a fantastic job.
“It was fun to run a lap with Lord Coe. His enthusiasm about the Olympic Games is infectious and I will take the memories from today to motivate myself through my winter training.”
Coe said: “Today marks a huge milestone for the project as the Olympic Stadium starts to come to life and people get a glimpse of how it will look in less than ten months’ time when we welcome the world’s athletes to London.”
The 80,000-seater stadium for the Games is set to be shrunk to a 60,000-seater venue for football, athletics, concerts and community use.
