Stuart Hole has completed his remarkable transition from footballer to professional cricketer after landing a contract with Warkwickshire.
The 21-year-old fast bowler has agreed a one-year deal at Edgbaston and will discuss its terms with club officials later this week.
Hole played football for Wycombe Wanderers until 2003 and did not focus on cricket for another two years.
This summer he helped Warwickshire win the 2nd XI Trophy for the first time as well as starring for Oxford.
Hole said: "The contract is only for one year. I don't know a great deal about it, but I'm going to find out more this week.
"I've been very pleased with my progress.
"I think I was the leading wicket-taker in the 2nd XI championship, which was excellent.
"Last season (2005) was my first proper season playing cricket. This year I just gave it a go.
"I'm very lucky to get the chance to do this. I didn't think for one second it would happen."
Hole began last year playing for Shipton-under-Wychwood in the Cherwell League, but signed for Oxford in the Home Counties Premier League after impressing on county duty.
This season has seen him establish himself as an opening bowler for Warwickshire 2nd.
