Mangotsfield Utd 1, Didcot Tn 1
DAVE Mudge’s first game in charge at Didcot ended with honours even at Mangotsfield in Division 1 South & West of the Evo-stik Southern League.
The visitors went close early on as Simieon Howell stung the palms of home keeper Danny Greaves, while at the other end, Jon Beames had to be alert to deny Daine O’Connor.
Didcot took the lead in the second half when Howell was given space on the right and his pinpoint cross found Danny Seaward, who headed into the corner.
Seaward was then denied by Greaves, and later saw a 25-yard drive flash just wide.
But the home side got more into the game, and their persistence paid off 12 minutes from time.
O’Connor’s cross from the left found Matt Groves, who headed back across goal to Tom Knighton, who forced the ball home.
Beames pulled off a fine save to deny Gary Colbourne, and Didcot held on.
Didcot Tn: Beames, Heapy, Halliday, Peirson, Henderson, Stanley, Millar (Legg 69), Howell, Seaward, Concannon, Charles (Lynch 50).
