SIMON Heslop is delighted to have broken his away-goal duck for Oxford United – and is now concentrating on trying to get a tap-in.
The U’s midfielder has developed a reputation for spectacular strikes since his arrival at the club 18 months ago.
The former Luton man has found the net three times this season, all the goals coming from long range.
Heslop scored in home games against Bradford and Shrewsbury, and a fortnight ago netted in the away win at Barnet.
That goal, his eighth for United, was the first time he had netted away from the Kassam Stadium.
Heslop is now hoping that having broken his duck, he can continue his goalscoring form at Hereford tomorrow.
And he admits it would be nice to bag some tap-ins as well as the spectacular ones.
“It was nice to finally get an away goal for the club at Barnet and hopefully I can do the same again at Hereford on Saturday,” he said.
“I would happily take a tap-in though – I need to get in the box more often and then that might happen.
“So that is definitely something I am working on.”
Although Hereford are struggling this season, Heslop says that they will not be taken lightly by the U’s.
“They are scrapping for their lives down the bottom of the table so it’s not going to be easy at all, we know that,” he said.
“We have dropped a few points at home that we shouldn’t have, but our away form has been very good of late and we are confident that if we play how we know we can, we can collect the points.”
