The atmosphere at next Saturday’s home game with Bristol Rovers is going to be electric.
And that will be largely down to a group of Oxford United fans who have dubbed the game the ‘Ultimate Support Saturday’.
Joe Nicholls, one of the supporters who came up with the idea explained: “The Bristol Rovers fans have designated the game as ‘Gas day out’, and are hoping to get as many of their fans to come to Oxford and create a great atmosphere.
“So myself, along with some other supporters, have decided to make the game ‘Ultimate Support Saturday’.
“If Bristol Rovers are going to make a lot of noise, then there is no reason why the Oxford fans cant outsing them.”
Chairman Kelvin Thomas has praised the initiative.
He said: “Our fans are always magnificent in their backing of this club.
“Hopefully we can see a great crowd and atmosphere at the Bristol Rovers match.
“It would be great to see our fans really get behind this and try to bring along at least one extra supporter each.”
