OXFORD City Stars had their best weekend of the season so far with a win and a draw from their double header at Bracknell Hornets and at home to Bristol Pitbulls.
Stars cruised to a 3-0 win at Bracknell, before drawing 4-4 with Bristol 24 hours later.
Martin Lee, Oxford’s newly-signed import from New Zealand, slammed in a superb opening goal at Bracknell from 50 feet, before Gareth Endicott doubled the lead.
Endicott netted again in the third period to seal victory.
Bristol visited Oxpens Road the following night, and Stars raced into a 2-0 lead through Andy Cox and Josh Oliver.
Steve Fisher reduced the arrears for Pitbulls, before Stars regained their two-goal lead, courtesy of an own goal from former player Andrew Shurmer.
When Dax Hedges made it 4-1, it looked as though Stars had wrapped up victory.
But Bristol fought back well with Fisher grabbing his second.
A penalty shot from Egidijus Bauba was well saved by Stars’ netminder Chris Douglas, but strikes from Sam Feeney and Steven Osman gave Bristol a share of the spoils.
Head coach Ken Forshee said: “I was really proud of the guys. Our work ethic over the whole weekend was great.”
