Oxford City’s Hannah England is all smiles despite being beaten into third place in a tight finish to the 31st Fifth Avenue Mile in New York on Saturday.

The World Championship 1500m silver medallist was pipped for second spot by Sally Kipyego, of Kenya, despite both being being given the same time of 4mins 22.3secs The race was easily won by American Jenny Simpson, who beat England for the gold medal in South Korea earlier this month. The men’s race was won by Kenyan-born American Bernard Lagat.
