BRIZE Norton Jets lost their South Regional League opener with a 44-34 defeat to the NRG Sussex Pumas in Worthing.
Jets matched Pumas goal-for-goal early on, but trailed 10-7 by the end of the first quarter.
Annabel Bottomley and Kirsty Floyd’s battling defensive work could not stop Pumas leading 20-16 at half-time and 32-23 after the third quarter.
Jets played their best netball in the final period, with some accurate shooting from Kerris Rushton and Claire Walker, but they were still pipped 12-11.
