HORSPATH Hammers stren-gthened their lead at the top of the British Premier League table with a 106-70 win at home to Ipswich.
Hammers hit the newcomers for three 7-3 maximum heat wins to start the match.
Only four exclusions halted the route, despite Ipswich’s spirited opposition.
Mark Boaler, Chris Timms, Mark Carmichael and Paul Heard were all unbeaten.
Horspath scorers: C Timms 16+4, L Osborne 16, P Heard 16+4, M Carmichael 19+1, M Szymczak 15+1, M Boaler 12 (3 rides), C Osborne 5, S Rudman 7+1.
- THE Combination match agsinst Ipswich finished level at 65-65, but Horspath received 41 penalty points, so took the contest 106-65.
A thrilling encounter on the track saw both teams take the actual match lead three times, before a last-heat 7-3 from Lee Clarke and Zac Payne left the teams ‘tied’. Clarke dropped just one point Horspath scorers: Z Payne 13+2, W Clarke 10, L Clarke 19, G Horsley 4, M Coulter 13, J Richardson 6+1.
- BRITISH champion Livvi Horsley added the Women’s League Under 16 Grand Prix title to her collection.
The Horspath rider’s third place in the A Final at Heckmondwike saw her claim the overall title by 11 points.
- TOMORROW sees Horspath host Swindon in South & South Wales Regional League Division 1 (2).
Swindon are led by former Hammers Daniel Harper and Rob Hunt, while Shaun Rudman also races for his home town team.
