Ted Bennett’s double helped Oxford Hawks to a 3-1 home win in a friendly against Oxford.
Sam Chilvers set Hawks on the way in the 16th minute when he picked up a long pass from Tom Coppin, beat a defender, and slotted his shot home.
Bennett smashed in his first goal after picking up a loose ball on top of the D.
His second was made by new boy Kieran Roche, who won possession on the half way line, before surging forward and picking out Bennett with a reverse pass for him to make it 3-0.
Hawks duo Rich Beer and Sam Chilvers received yellow cards for mis-timesd tackles in the second half.
Oxford pulled a goal back from a penalty corner.
A late goal sent Banbury down to a 3-2 defeat at home to Bedford.
The match was all square with four minutes to go when Bedford were awarded a disputed short corner that turned into a penalty flick, which Ben Smith converted.
Smith had given Bedford the lead, before Tim Brown levelled for Banbury.
Tyson Nunneley put Banbury ahead, but Bedford equalised through James Jones.
Lee Allen hit a hat-trick in Banbury 3rds’ 7-0 win over Khalsa.
Simon Holloway, Sam Collier, Ollie Davies and Sammy Licence were also on target.
