World stars Tony O’Shea and Aaron Monk are set to toe the oche at the Red Lion in Kidlington next month as part of the Legends In Your Local Tour.
O’Shea, known as Silverback, has been runner-up in all four of the British Darts Organisation’s former Grand Slam of major darts tournaments – including the 2009 world championship final when he lost 7-6 to Ted Hankey.
He will be joined at the Red Lion on Wednesday, October 26 by Monk, the PDC world under 21 champion, following his victory over Michael van Gerwen in the final.
Darts fans will not only be able to watch them pit their skills against each other in eight legs, but they will also have the chance to try their hand against one of them.
Landlady Lisa Finnegan said: “This kind of opportunity does not come around very often, and it’s bound to be a first-class evening of sports action.
“We’re sure our many darts fans in the area will join us, but I’d also encourage those who have never seen the sport before to come along as well – it really is a very thrilling game and a fantastic evening’s entertainment.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing the pros in action, and secretly hoping that one of our customers can put up a good fight, or even win a game! Who knows, we might discover a new world-class darts player right here at the Red Lion.”
Tickets, priced £10, are available from the pub.
