BURWOOD Freddie, back from his rest, showed his mettle at his favourite track Hove to grab his fifth win in eight open races when landing the Coral British Bred Trophy for trainer Johnny Mayo.
Freddie came from behind to collar the highly rated Green-acre Josh by a handsome five lengths.
There was also success for Oxford trainers Robert Hannan and Chris Stringer, Hannan scoring with Liosgarbh West at Harlow on Sunday over 769 metres and the victor looks a likely marathon performer.
Meanwhile, Chris Stringer landed his first open win since taking out his license when River Dubh won the Maiden Stakes over 545 metres at Mildenhall.
Stringer is certainly settling in well and with his never ending stream of useful hounds from owner Max Picicineli, can go from strength to strength.
The latest batch of pups by top Australian stud dog and former top grader Final Remorse have been hand slipped and look the part.
