THE eagle-eyed Oxford United fans among you will have noticed something different when Peter Leven made it 2-0 against Burton last week.
The midfielder has been forced to wear a protective cast on his left wrist this season after an operation in the summer.
But when he latched onto Lewis Guy’s through ball to score, there was no cast in sight.
And the reason why?
“I just forgot to put it back on,” Leven admitted.
“I had the operation in the summer which is why it’s been on.”
Surely then having scored his first goal for the club he should ‘forget’ to put it on more often.
“I’ve got to keep it on,” he said. “I’m not a superstitious person, so I’ll just say I’ll wear it when I remember!”
Leven has been very impressed with the quality of United’s passing of late, and says that the way they have been whizzing the ball about is first class.
“We have got some very good footballers here and there’s no doubt that on our day we can beat anyone,” he said.
“We have been passing the ball well and I thought on Tuesday especially the way the whole team defended was superb.
“The back line did their job, but it was also a case of defending from the front, where Alfie (Potter) and Beano (James Constable) put in a tremendous shift.”
