Andy Ballard was sent off late on as Abingdon United had to settle for a 0-0 draw in their Division 1 South & West match at home to Bracknell.
The Abingdon midfielder was fouled by an opponent, which led to a melee.
The referee showed a yellow card to the Bracknell player for pushing, while Ballard got his marching orders for throwing a punch in the ensuing scramble.
Despite the scoreline, both sides had chances to break the deadlock.
Abingdon's first shot came from Mark Simms with a scissor kick after 20 minutes, but it went far too high.
Luke Holden went closest to scoring for the home side in the second half.
He swivelled to test keeper McCarthy and seconds later headed wide from Jemaine Ferreira's chip over the defence.
Bracknell came back and had two penalty appeals turned down within a minute, but both were waved away.
With 15 minutes left, Holden was replaced by Ryan Brooks, who set up a chance for Simms whose shot was blocked.
