With opponents Queens Head B, who needed all three points to tie at the top, having taken the first two legs 16-13, 19-15 and then setting 15 in the last, all looked lost for Donnington, until anchor man Simpson clanged off the four dolls needed to take the leg and the title in a 2-1 defeat.

Five teams were still in with a chance of the Section 7 title, but it was Chequers B who prevailed with a 3-0 win at the Red Lion Wendlebury.
Kidlington Sports B blew their chance in the opening leg against Brill Club B when they could only hit nine chasing 14.
They rallied round well in the next two legs 20-13, 18-12 for a 2-1 win, but it wasn’t enough as they fell one point short.
