Florence Park Community Centre A retained the Ladies’ Premier Section title with a stunning 8-1 victory over the visiting Butchers Arms.

Wins from Tina Hamilton and Angie Pointin gave the home side a 2-0 lead.

The Butchers’ only success came when Maggie Dexter-Naylor beat Michelle Ewins.

Park completed the rout with successes from Jo Gleed, Clare Bywaters and Natalie Greed-Roberts plus a 3-0 pairs win.

Rileys Social Club, the reigning men’s Premier Section champions, suffered their third loss in four games, at Witney Snooker Club.

Victories from Mick Kearns, and Ian Moss helped to propelled Witney into a 4-2 lead and they increased this to 6-3, Moss finishing his pairs with a brilliant 155 finish (60-57-38).

Cowley Workers Club took a giant step towards the Section 2 title with a 7-2 success away to Marsh Harrier A.

Workers are now five points clear of their closest rivals Corner House C, whose title hopes were diminished by a shock defeat at home to Three Horseshoes.

Corner House looked to be heading for a comfortable win when they led 4-2 after the singles match, but Shoes rallied to win the pairs 3-0 for a surpise 5-4 success.

The battle for Section 3 honours will go to the last game.

In pole position are George Bar who won 5-4 at Littlemore Rugby.

Their closest rivals – two Donnington Community Centre sides – both lost ground.

The A team went down 5-4 at Blackbird Bar, while the B side were beaten 5-4 by Bullnose Morris A.

The league’s annual meeting will be held at the Three Horseshoes on Saturday, October 1.
