HOSTS Oxford Hawks made it a day to remember when they became men’s and ladies’ champions at the Oxfordshire County Tournament.
Hawks men triumphed convincingly by winning all four of their matches at their new facilities at Banbury Road North.
Their crunch game came against favourites Banbury.
Hawks sped into a 2-0 lead through Jack Biggs and former Banbury player Craig Larner.
Banbury rallied and pulled it back to 2-2 with goals from Matthew Bull and Ian Reynolds.
But with Banbury’s legs tiring, Hawks scored a late winner through Biggs to take the game 3-2 and the Oxon Cup.
Banbury also had to settle for second place in the ladies’ tournament.
The decider again was against Hawks, who triumphed 3-2 through Elisa Woodford, Tacita Haines and Ali Omell.
Banbury’s goals came from Sadie Lapper and Tash Nunneley, who also missed a late penalty.
