Rory Lyon took match-winning figures of 4-10 in his four overs as Bicester & North Oxford lifted the Oxfordshire Under 17 Club Championship's Honey-B Trophy with a comprehensive nine-wicket victory over Minster Lovell at Cumnor.

Bicester skipper Andrew Payne won the toss, and put Minster, appearing in their first-ever final, in to bat on a wicket that offered plenty of assistance.

Minster, who were missing David Bostock, victim of a nasty head injury a day earlier in an OCA League game, got off to a bad start when opener Dan Brown was caught for one off a leading edge, before skipper Nathan Harris was bowled.

Charles Bennett and Ollie Ebsworth steadied the ship, then Bennett and Tom Curtis put on 50 for the fourth wicket.

Curtis led a charmed life in his knock of 16.

He was caught off a no-ball, then bowled next ball, which was also called a no-ball.

Bennett batted sensibly for his 24, but when he went, Minster struggled to get the ball away against some tight Bicester bowling as they closed on 87-8 from their 20 overs.

Lyon's spell really turned the screw, and this always looked like a well-below par score.

In their reply, Bicester opener Will Cooper crashed two boundaries in Alex Henshall's first over.

Phil Warson also punished Minster, waiting patiently for the bad balls as he top-scored on 36 not out.

Cooper was the only Bicester batsman to fall when Ebsworth had him caught behind by Harris for 24, but they eased home with eight overs to spare.
