Oxford general manager Steve Rawle is ready to jump to it in aid of retired greyhounds.

He is to undertake a sponsored parachute jump in aid of the Oxford retired Greyhound Trust, who stage their own charity meeting next month.

Sponsors at £100 per race are required with all enquiries to Mick Wheble on 01865 778222 ext 204.

Jenny Hebborn, a true champion to the retired hound cause, has homed nine dogs this year. Owners are given a week to see how the dog settles in and if things are not right, she will take it back home.

Jersey-based Penny Baisner has also been doing good work for Oxford hounds and bearing in mind that it costs £200 to transport a greyhound to the Channel Islands, she is demonstrating a lot of commitment to the cause.

Melanie Hancox, the Oxford co-ordinator, did her bit when she paraded two retired hounds before and during racing on Saturday to take a collection to boost the funds.

Oxford trainer Terry Atkins, Cowley's answer to Tiger Woods, will lead an Oxford team in a charity golf tournament at Windlesham, Essex on Monday organised by Channel 4's Tanya Stevenson.

Every GRA track will be represented and they will be up against the likes of John Francombe, Graham Goode, Mike Cattermole and Richi Risad. They hope to raise £5,000 for the retired hounds.
