JAMES Constable is set to remain an Oxford United player after rejecting an approach from another club, the Oxford Mail understands.
It is believed that United received a substantial offer from a Football League team - believed to be League One side Bournemouth - to sign the striker.
Constable is rumoured to have held talks with the club in question today, but these broke down.
It is not expected that they can be revived at this late stage.
Bournemouth chairman Eddie Mitchell confirmed that the club were in discussions with a striker, but that these have ended.
He confirmed that they were "unlikely" to sign the striker in question, but he would not name him.
Constable was the subject of speculation from both Luton and Swindon earlier this season, with the Hatters making an official bid for the striker, which was rejected by the club.
