SAM Cheshire smashed 59 off 33 balls to set holders Banbury on the way to a six-wicket win at Aston Rowant in the Bernard Tollett Oxfordshire Cup semi-final.
Chasing Rowant’s 136-4, Cheshire’s whirlwind knock, which included five sixes and four boundaries, provided the platform for Banbury to clinch victory with an over to spare.
He put on 51 for the first wicket with Lance Shaw, before Craig Haupt (24no) saw Banbury home.
Earlier, Chris Watling (47) and Richard Cook (38) had got Rowant off to a flying start after the hosts won the toss and elected to bat.
But after they were parted on 77, Banbury’s bowlers pegged Rowant back in the later overs.
Now Banbury face Shipton-under-Wychwood in the final at Great & Little Tew on Sunday (2.30pm).
Shipton also feature in the preceding District Cup final when they take on hosts Great Tew (10.30am).
