CHARLIE Morlock, who trains at Kingston Lisle, near Wantage, provided jockey Gerard Tumelty with a winner on his first ride since turning professional when Flamand sprang a 25-1 surprise at Stratford.
Tumelty, who is based near Marlborough with trainer Alan King, brought the five-year-old gelding sweeping through on the second circuit of the extended two-mile handicap hurdle to beat Nesnaas by an easy 11 lengths.
Morlock revealed that his charge had a wind operation since his last outing in July when he finishing seventh at Stratford in July.
"I have always thought he was a lovely horse," he said.
"He came from Ireland with a big reputation, but we only paid little money for him because he had had a couple of disappointing runs.
"It is amazing what a little wind operation does."
On the Flat, West Ilsley trainer Mick Channon reached a century of winners for the season when Grantley Adams scored at Goodwood.
The three-year-old came flying up the stands rail under Tony Culhane to beat Machinist by half a length in the six-furlong handicap.
Wantage trainer Henry Candy sent Oldjoesaid out to notch a pillar-to-post victory at Sandown - and provided Kerrin McEvoy with his 50th winner of the campaign.
Candy also struck with Quintrell in a seven-furlong maiden at Lingfield.
Talcen Gwyn followed up his recent Chepstow win for Milton Harris's Edgcote yard, near Banbury, by making all the running to land a five-furlong handicap under David Kinsella at Bath.
Alan Jarvis, who trains at Twyford, near Bicester, enjoyed a welcome winner when Wachiwi and Adam Kirby came up trumps in a six-furlong nursery at Kempton.
Paul Cole's Whatcombe stables, near Wantage, have enjoyed a revival this summer, and Dr Thong provided him with another success with victory at Southwell.
