Second-half goals from strikers Will Green and Aaron Woodley saw Banbury United make it three Southern League Premier Division wins on the spin after a 2-0 success over St Albans.

After a goalless first half, in which Woodley hit an upright from a narrow angle, it was all Banbury after the break.

And it was no surprise when they went ahead, Simeon Williams’s pass allowing Green to net from 15 yards.

Green should have made it 2-0 from the penalty spot on 67 minutes after Nick Jupp brought down Woodley.

The keeper was sent off, but stand-in Ryan Moran saved Green’s effort.

But victory was sealed when Woodley made no mistake.

The game was preceded by a minute’s silence for groundsman Walter Preedy who died on Thursday.
