LIAM Davis said that failing to beat ten-man Aldershot on Saturday almost felt like they had lost the game.

The left back was one of the positives to come out of an otherwise disappointing performance.

But he said that the gloomy home dressing room told the story at the final whistle.

“We are all really disappointed with ourselves,” Davis said.

“It feels like a loss with how things went today.

“After their man got sent off we did dominate and maybe at times it was a little bit too comfortable for us.

“We didn’t create chances and I think we only had a couple of shots at goal which was really disappointing.”

Davis revealed that the players knew the gameplan, but was at a loss to explain why they couldn’t carry it out.

“Aldershot had a tough game on Wednesday night so we were trying to keep the ball and make them work hard.

“But it just didn’t happen for us today.

“The fans obviously want to see attacking football constantly, but you have to use your head and try and get the balance between keeping patient and going forward.

“I suppose that the worst thing that could have happened was a loss so at least we have got something out of it, but a draw isn’t good enough today.”
