DRENNAN GOT Baits won the final round in the Oxford Super League, beating newly-crowned champions Turners Tackle, writes ANDY WEBBER.

It’s a first title triumph for Turners Tackle, who finished top by nine points.

They had sealed the crown the previous week before Sunday’s finale fished by six teams of six on the Thames at Medley, and on the day had to give best to Drennan GOT Baits, who had five section winners.

The Thames roach were feeding with gusto, while there were bream topping all along the length early on, but only a couple were caught.

Every section was won with double figures.

Mick Elliot (Drennan GOT Baits) was pegged at the top end of the venue and caught one large bream, plus roach, on pole and caster for a winning 22.14.0.

Gary Barclay (Drennan GOT Baits) took second place with 18.5.0, including a big bream to go with a net of roach on pole and maggot from above the mudflats.

Steve Townsend (Drennan GOT Baits) was third with 17.14.0 from the middle of perch bay, an all-roach bag on pole and caster.

Coldstone’s latest match at Clattercote on Saturday was entertaining, with carp to 15lbs being caught by the eight anglers.

The winner was Pete Upton, with a great catch of carp on pellet waggler. He weighed in 141.8.0 of fish to 10lb.

New member Nick Paxton was runner-up with 97.7.0 of carp, switching between the bagging waggler and pellet waggler.

Steve Arthurs also had carp on pellet waggler for a third-placed 57.8.0.

Beehive AC fished their FA and UEFA Cup finals on a perfect Panshill and more than 780lbs hit the scales from the 12 anglers.

Kevin Jeacock led them home with 133.2.0 to pole and maggot at three metres.

Nigel Waters was second with 90.2.0 on pole and maggot, followed by Bob Alder with 75.2.0 on the pole and pellet.

UEFA Cup winner: K. Jeacock. FA Cup winner: B Alder.

Masons travelled to Nell’s Bridge, near Banbury, for their latest club match and there were a lot of carp on the feed, including some good ones.

At the whistle, Gary Pether emerged the victor with six of them to 15lb on pellet and paste for a winning 67.2.0.

Nick Newitt used bread, paste and pellet for a second-placed 43.9.0, while Jason Smith had 40.8.0 of carp on pellet for third.

Rolf’s Lake at Wheatley was on blistering form for the latest match held at the water.

Jon Walker put 383lb of carp on the scales, the best weight this season, using meat over pellet and rotating four lines.

He landed carp up to 15lb and even snagged a pike which slipped the hook only inches from the net.
