CHRIS Wilder says he has confidence that his team will ensure that tomorrow’s game with Aldershot is not a case of after the Lord Mayor’s show.

Last week’s win over Swindon will count for nothing if Oxford United fail to beat Dean Holdsworth’s side tomorrow.

It will be a real test of United’s squad to see how they adapt and break down a team that will probably be delighted to return home with a point.

Last week at Swindon it was a case of digging in and battling for everything, but tomorrow the onus is on Wilder’s side to make things happen – something the United manager knows his side can do.

“Everyone says that and we all understand that,” Wilder said in answer to a question about making sure the U’s don’t undo their good work last week.

“People think we’ve been out all week partying after our derby win, but we’re too experienced and too professional for all that.

“Yes you enjoy the wins and Sunday was one of those special, special days. We had a day off Monday, but then were back in Tuesday and our attention was turned towards Saturday and Aldershot.”

And while Holdsworth’s side have only picked up three points in the league, this week they dumped West Ham out of the Carling Cup.

“I’m sure they’ll bring a big support with them both on the back of that result and because it’s local so it’s all set up for a cracking game,” Wilder added.
