North Leigh boss Mark Gee says the dismissal of Joe Burnell as a joke after he was sent off in the 3-2 defeat by Sholing on Tuesday.

Gee said: “Joe has over-run the ball and lunged into the tackle, which I thought was a booking. It was a joke.

“But you can’t appeal, so we have to take it on the chin.”

Meanwhile, North Leigh will be aiming to break their Evo-Stik Soutehrn League Division 1 South & West duck against visitors Gosport Borought tomorrow.

He added: “Points-wise I’m not happy, but performance-wise we deserved to get more from the last two games.”

Andy Caton returns, but Matty Taylor (knee), Stuart Hole (banned) and Josh Dutton-Black (knee) miss out.

Didcot Town manager Francis Vines feels they will get a win soon ahead of the visit of unbeaten Thatcham.

On Monday, Town led 1-0 at Gosport Borough, only to concede an injury-time goal to deny Didcot their first win.

“To say we’re desperate for a win is an understatement, but in the first four games the performances have gradually got better,” said Vines.

“Phil (John), who was here before and Danny Seaward, who is new, have allowed us to grow a couple of teeth and I’m hoping they can help us to that first win, which I feel is just around the corner.”

Meanwhile, Vines has a keeper crisis as No 1 Dave Lyons is away in America.

He hoped Maidenhead stopper Steve Williams could help out, but he is on holiday.

“It’s going down to the wire,” admitted Vines.

Abingdon United could give a debut to striker Sam Collier away to Poole Town.

Manager Richie Bourne, who has Sean McKeon and Adam Doyle back from suspension, said: “He’s a terrific lad, who’s been Wootton Bassett’s top-scorer in the last two seasons.

“He will give us options.”
