MARTIN Woodbridge held off the challenge of rising star Eddie Pepperell to land Frilford Heath's club championship.
Woodbridge, who plays off one, pipped Pepperell, who had just returned from representing England under 18s in Germany, by two strokes.
The championship was played over Frilford's three courses and Woodbridge had a five-shot lead going into the final round on the Red.
Pepperell put the pressure on with a three-under-par 70, but an eagle on the tenth hole and a birdie on the 12th helped Woodbridge to a 73 and victory.
Frilford's 36-hole nett championship, the John Fisher Cup, saw three-handicapper Nev Davies claim victory ahead of Joe Richardson and Dean Newbold, both aged 13.
The teenage duo, who both play off seven, carded nett 63s on the Green Course, but Davies finished three ahead of Richardson and five ahead of Newbould.
