WITNEY battled to a 20-10 victory at Bletchley in Southern Counties North.
First blood went to Bletchley with a successful penalty kick on 15 minutes.
On 30 minutes, Witney prop Mark Serle fielded a loose ball and helped set up a try for hooker Gareth Williams.
Witney's crucial score came on 53 minutes when debutant winger Phil Gouldie opened his account.
They looked to have made the game safe when Henry Lamb went over on the left wing for 15-3.
But Bletchley hit back with a disputed late converted try.
Witney sealed it with a try right on full time by scrum half Gareth Campbell.
Chipping Norton showed their intentions with a 59-0 victory at home to Supermarine, while Grove eked out a 14-13 win at Olney.
Captain Jon Smart scored a first-half try, but Grove had to recover from 13-7 down thanks to wing George Rautenbach's late score and Nick Sevier's second conversion.
