BANBURY UNITED 1 BATH CITY 1

HONOURS were shared between the table's fourth and fifth clubs, and although Bath were the better team, Banbury should have won.

The first half was end to end, with Bath just edging things.

In the tenth minute, Banbury's veteran keeper Alan Judge made a good stop to deny Scott Partridge, while at the other end Andy Baird headed wide following an Ady Fuller free-kick.

In the 44th minute, United were given a golden chance to take the lead when Jon Gardner was upended by Dean Clarke as he broke into the penalty area.

Fuller took the spot-kick but giant keeper Paul Evans made a remarkable save palming the ball into the path of Baird who inexplicably put the ball wide.

However, Banbury were not to be denied, and after just 90 seconds of the second-half they took the lead.

Tommy Kinch sent a cross over from the left, and with Baird making a dummy run - taking two defenders with him - Stuart Bridges side-footed the ball home past a stranded Evans.

Bath went forward at every opportunity, and the equaliser came in the 83rd minute.

Alan Judge made a good save at the foot of the post, but he parried the ball into the path of Partridge who drove the ball home from a narrow angle.
