Bicester Tn 2, Abingdon Tn 4

ABINGDON Town put their league woes behind them to record a notable FA Vase first qualifying round victory after extra-time.

Paul Jezzard opened the scoring from the edge of the area in the 15th minute.

But Town couldn't take the lead as the home side drew level when Adam Hamp fired in a long-range shot that was fumbled over the line by keeper Gordon Hearmon.

After the break, Tom Larman came agonisingly close to giving Town the lead after 70 minutes, but his effort hit the bar as neither side could find a winner.

Six minutes into extra-time, Bicester almost snatched the lead as Hamp pounced on a loose ball from Adam Bradley, but Hearmon was on hand to smother.

Abingdon took the lead in the 100th minute when Jason Thomas fire left-footed against a post, the ball rebounding against the back of keeper Farrow and into the net.

A minute later, victory was virtually secured when Douglas again fed Larman who burst clear to score.

Bicester's Danny Bone kept the match alive with a late strike, but Paul Douglas hit Abingdon's fourth to secure an away tie at Chipping Norton in a fortnight's time.

Kidlington 0, Witney Utd 4

WITNEY United progressed with an excellent team display at Kidlington.

United introduced new signings Matty Shelton and Stuart Douglas, and it was the lattter's corner that was met by John McMahon on 11 minutes to open the scoring.

Witney's second came just before the break through Mark Odom, when he latched onto a Danny Wise flick.

Garry Parker headed against a post for Kidlington, before Wise put the result beyond all doubt with Witney's third.

The same player bagged his brace soon after to secure a trip to Buckingham Town in the next round.
