Round two of the Oxford Super League was split over three sections of the Thames around Oxford, Medley, Channel and Folly and on the hottest day of the year, it proved hard work for the seven teams of six.

The river still had no flow and was a strange brown colour.

The bottom section at Folly produced three out of the top four, including winner Malcolm Pearce (Fox Match ISIS) with 23.7.0, catching bream early on the pole and worm over groundbait.

Paul Harrop (Turners) weighed in 15.15.0 of bream for second place, followed by Tony Hobbs (Drennan GOT Baits) with 15.10.0 from Medley. His bag included a tench and a bream on the pole and worm.

Team-wise, Drennan GOT Baits Blue won with 36 points from Drennan GOT Baits Red with 35 and Turners on 32.

Drennan GOT Baits Red lead the league with 73 points from the Blue team on 69.

The latest Carp League 2011 match was fished by 20 at Panshill, and Pans Lake produced a pretty even contest.

Using a pole at 14.5 metres tight to the far bank with maggot under slop, Rob Guppy (Panshill) triumphed with 98.8.0 of small carp.

Gary Knight also fished maggot for a second-placed 72.14.0, followed by Steve Waters, who used banded pellet down the edge to catch 65.12.0 of small carp and F1’s.

The Kirtlington Estate Eric Lewington Memorial Cup was fished by 12 at Stable Lake.

Tony Wright (Predator) came out on top with 63.0.0 of carp and bream. He fished the pole down the edge, switching between corn, pellet and paste.

Runner-up Dave Clarke (Predator) used the long pole, alternating between paste and meat for 44.2.0, pipping Dave Pether (Masons) with 43.8.0 of bream and carp on pellet.

Beehive AC’s Cup Winners Cup was fished by 15 in sweltering heat at Boddington, where the large head of carp played hard to get.

Dave Simmons won with 47.2.0 on method feeder and corn. Chris Dingle was second with 44.2.0 on straight lead and meat, which earned him the overall trophy, followed by Tim Belcher with 39.14.0 on the method and pellet.

Twenty matchmen travelled over to Ridgeway for the second match in the Summer League 2011 series and like a lot of waters, it didn’t really switch on until the afternoon, so weights were down, although everyone did catch.

Colin Manning fished pole with chopped worm, catching carp for a winning 42.11.0.

Phil Weston finished second with 33.3.0 of carp on pole and maggot, and third with 31.10.0 was Dean Bowerman on pole with an assortment of baits.
