OXFORDSHIRE Over 50s remain firmly on course for the knockout rounds of the ECB 50+ County Championship with one match remaining after a thumping 82-run victory over Shropshire at Banbury Twenty on Wednesday.

Winning the toss, Oxon captain Ian Caunce took the bowling apart with a magnificent century. Dropped on 71, he went on to make 187 not out, putting on 279 with Tony Munsey, who finished on 106 not out as Oxon totalled a massive 344-2.

Caunce’s ton is a record for the county veterans – beating Munsey’s 183 made against Dorset last year when Oxon made their best ever 50-over total of 364.

Shropshire made a bold reply as David Street led the way with 124, but five wickets from Ady Manger saw them dismissed for 262 with six overs left.
