RYAN Doble admits he can’t wait to get going for Oxford United.
The striker, who has signed on loan from Southampton until the end of the season, joined up with the U’s squad yesterday after returning from international duty with Wales Under 21s in Andorra.
He said: “I’m excited. This is a good chance for me to play first-team football and help Oxford into the play-offs.
“The manager’s said to me to go out, enjoy it, give 100 per cent, which is a basic, and try to help as much as I can.”
The 20-year-old is quick, and he scored once in three appearances on loan at Stockport this season.
“They were my first three games in the Football League so I was just getting used to it, but it was a good way to start and hopefully I can progress from there,” said the forward, who has played at every age group for Wales from Under 14s upwards.
He added: “In Andorra it wasn’t the best of games, but we won 1-0 and the three points is all that matters.
“The facilities weren’t great, but you’ve just got to go with the mentality of getting the points and that’s it.”
Doble will be on the bench to start with at Gigg Lane. But he will not be lacking in enthusiasm to play his part.
“I love playing football,” he said. “I don’t think I’m too bad pace-wise, I like to get on the ball a lot and I like to be involved.”
