Chinnor have shown their intent for tomorrow’s Oxfordshire Cup semi-final at Grove by naming a full-strength side.

The cup holders, who are two leagues above Grove, add Sam Angell to the squad that thrashed Exmouth 52-5 in National 3 South West.

Fellow utility back Ricky Hopwood is out with an ankle injury sustained in last week’s warm-up.

Head coach Jason Bowers said: “It is a full Chinnor first team. We are really looking forward to the adventure.

“It would be nice to get into the final and have a third match against Quins.

“But I think Grove will give us a really tough game.”

Chinnor include former Grove players, flanker Adam Hastings and wing Richard Williams.

Grove head coach Nathan Brooks, himself a former Chinnor player, said: “We are missing one or two players through injury, but we have picked a reasonable side.

“We are obviously not expecting to win the game, but we want to give a good account of ourselves.

“With Adam Hastings playing for Chinnor, there are a few of our guys looking forward to coming up against him.

“They are showing us respect. From my point of view, it is nice to face a club I used to play for in a meaningful game.”

Prop Sam Beckett, centre Ali James and wing Neil Baggett come into the side for Henley Hawks’ trip to Southend in National 2 South.

Alex Penny moves to hooker to cover for Ant Brennan, who is on England junior duty.

James replaces Gavin Turner and Baggett comes in for Tommy Haynes.

Prop Hugo Milford-Scott, a former regular, will play his first game after two seasons out injured when Henley 2nd visit Southend 2nd in Division 1 of the Rugby Tech Shield.

Jamie Burke, another prop, returns to the Witney squad in place of Paul Kelly as they host Oakmeadians in South West 1 East.

Victory would see Witney enhance their prospects of a top-six finish.
