Alchester expect captain Dan Kimber to lead them at Gloucester’s Old Richians in the RFU Senior Vase quarter-finals tomorrow, despite last week’s red card.
Kimber was sent off for illegal use of the boot as Alchester beat Drifters 18-13 to secure the BB&O Premier Division title.
Head coach Chris Kimber, Dan’s father, does not believe the flanker will be banned.
He said: “Dan was lying on the floor at a ruck. As he looked to get out, he didn’t see their player’s head behind him and kicked it.
“I think the referee’s report will be favourable for him.
“There are certain offences you have to give red cards for, but they are not intentional.”
Victory at Old Richians will leave Alchester just one win away from a Twickenham final on Saturday, May 14.
Chris Kimber said: “They are doing well in the Gloucester Premier Division and scoring lots of points.
“I should think being a Gloucester team, they will be good in the forwards.
“If we play with the same intensity we have shown and in the way we want to, we know we can win.
“We’ll give it our best shot. Everyone is really up for it.”
