Oxford United are marking the 25th anniversary of their Milk Cup Final triumph with a series of events at the home game against Chesterfield at the Kassam Stadium on April 23.
A number of players who carved their names in the club’s history on April 20 1986 will be presented to the crowd before the game and have lunch with supporters.
Trevor Hebberd, Malcolm Shotton and Les Phillips, who all played at Wembley, will be there, along with other members of the squad, including Neil Slatter and Steve Hardwick. Other players are expected to confirm their presence nearer the time.
Fans are urged to dig out their rep-lica shirts, scarves and banners to create a great atmosphere for the game against League Two leaders Chesterfield, who will probably have clinched promotion by then.
To mark the anniversary, the whole match will be shown on a big screen in The Spires Suite at the stadium, where fans can watch it over lunch with a Milk Cup Final players’ question and answer session to follow.
Tickets for the lunch need to be bought in advance, on 01865 337533.
THE Oxford Mail are producing a special eight-page supplement on the day, April 20, to mark the 25th anniversary of the Milk Cup Final.
