Controversy surrounded Oxfordshire Under 14s’ 3-3 draw against Hampshire in the Reed Trophy at Milton United.
The two sides were locked together at 1-1 in the second half when, with a Hampshire player lying injured, the home team did not hear the shouts to put the ball out of play, and Giorgio Rasulo fired Oxon ahead.
Hampshire equalised almost immediately when Eddie Cavanagh allowed a shot from Jack Waters to slip through his hands.
Cavanagh made amends with a brave block, and Oxfordshire regained the lead when George Reid’s inswinging corner ended up in the net.
But Hampshire equalised four minutes from time, Lewis Oliver heading home a free-kick at the back post for a share of the spoils.
The visitors had opened the scoring in the first half when Oliver Bailey lobbed the advancing Cavanagh.
But Oxon were level by the break after Luca Headford swept home Josh Smile’s right-wing cross.
