Joel Thompson hit a cracking brace as Vale of White Horse Under 13s beat Cheltenham 4-2 in a friendly at Winchcombe School’s new 3G pitch.
He opened the scoring with a 20-yard drive, and then James Rainer’s free-kick eluded the home keeper.
Thompson fired home another thunderbolt from 25 yards to put Vale 3-0 up at half-time.
Cheltenham pulled two goals back in the second half, before David Willcox sent Jack Powell away to clinch Vale’s victory two minutes from time.
A DEPLETED Vale of White Horse Under 11s slipped to a 6-0 defeat against unbeaten leaders St Albans in the County League at Harvesters FC.
ALL Saints (Didcot) pipped Stockham (Wantage) 2-1 after extra time in the Vale of White Horse Primary Schools Girls Seven-a-side Cup final.
Katie Miller scored the winner for All Saints after Elisabetta Mainwaring had cancelled out Ella Joyce’s goal for Stockham in normal time.
