JOE Rowles’s try and Henry Lamb’s conversion earned Witney a 13-12 victory at promotion-chasing High Wycombe.
No 8 Rowles powered over on 65 minutes and full back Lamb kept his nerve to land the winning kick.
Wycombe twice went for the corner with kickable penalties and the second yielded a converted try via a five-metre scrum.
The rampaging Rowles went close from fly half Pierre Dubost’s pass, but Wycombe strayed off-side and Lamb slotted the penalty.
Centre Joe Collins and wing James Monks were both denied due to forward passes.
On 50 minutes, Lamb’s second penalty reduced the arrears to 7-6, but the hosts hit back with a try out wide.
It did not look good for Witney as flanker Carl Campbell was sin binned, but Wycombe’s hooker was also yellow-carded.
Rowles struck decisively then Dubost’s grubber kick almost set up Monks and replacement Tim Muller.
