JACOB Hughes hit a double as Mid Oxon Schools Under 15s reached the final of the ESFA Trophy for the first time in their 55-year history with a 2-1 extra time victory over Liverpool last night, writes KIEREN BUSHNELL.
It was an heroic performance from one of the smallest associations in the competition, as they battled back from a goal down in front of more than 300 people at Chipping Norton Town.
Liverpool, the reigning champions and unbeaten in 37 matches, went in front in the 14th minute when Louis Kennedy slot home.
But Mid Oxon equalised with the last kick of normal time when Hughes netted.
And two minutes into extra-time, the same player headed home what turned out to be the winner.
Mid Oxon will now meet Dacorum in the final at a venue to be decided.
