OXFORD Harlequins would love another crack at Chinnor – in the Oxfordshire Cup final.
That was the view of Quins director of rugby John Brodley after watching his side slip to a 30-22 defeat in Saturday’s National 3 South West clash at Kingsey Road.
And if Chinnor can overcome Grove in their semi-final, Brodley will get his wish.
“I think from our point of view, we hope to get one more shot at them,” said Brodley.
“We think we can take them, but we have got to go out and do it. We need to be a lot stronger mentally when we get tired.
“Before Chinnor scored their third try, we had three opportunities to clear our lines, but didn’t take them.
“You can’t fault the effort and some of the skill that we showed.”
Chinnor head coach Jason Bowers felt stopping Quins wing Huw Jones scoring was the turning point on Saturday.
He said: “I felt Toby Prescott was back to his best at scrum half, and Ed Vickers carried the ball really well at the end.
“It was a workmanlike win, but one that both sides would look forward to having another go at in the Oxfordshire Cup final.
“However, we will be taking nothing for granted at Grove.”
