Oxfordshire's Steven Sheard and Pete Phillips are British Pairs champions.
After beating Northants duo Simon & Ian Coleman in the quarter-finals, they faced Oxon duo Phil Collins and Leon Beer in a four-legged semi-final in Bournemouth.
With the match tied at 1-1, Sheard played out the table with a brilliant break of 21,000 – which proved the turning point of the game.
In the final, Sheard and Phillips faced more opponents from Oxfordshire – Witney’s John Bamsey and Tony Willis.
Phillips again opened well, racking-up a break of 13,000.
And Sheard moved them to the brink with a 9,000 break in the second game as they stormed 2-0 ahead.
Although Bamsey’s 9,000 break in frame three did reduce the deficit, the Witney duo needed a big victory in the final game to pull off a shock – but they fell short.
Holders Keith Sheard and Mark Trafford fell at the quarter-final stage, losing to Willis & Bamsey.
