Striker Felipe Barcelos bagged a hat-trick as Oxford City continued to climb further away from trouble in the Zamaretto Southern League Premier Divison with a 3-0 win at Stourbridge on Tuesday night.
Without the unavilable Lee Steele, City soaked up early pressure before a fine solo effort in the 28th minute from Barcelos broke the deadlock.
The Brazilian made it 2-0 on 76 minues after Jerome Anderson’s shot was parried by the keeper, and Barcelos wrapped it up with his third, seven minutes from the end.
Fellow strugglers Didcot Town lost ground when they fell to a second defeat in four days, this time 1-0 at home to Hemel Hempstead.
The Railwaymen went behind six minutes after half-time when winger Dave Pearce cut in and drove a shot home.
Didcot’s best chance came late on when Michael Bartley broke clear but was denied by keeper Mike McEntegart.
Abingdon United went down to a shock 2-1 home defeat to Division 1 South & West basement boys Andover, who had won only once in 32 games.
Chriss Onoufriou and Chris Brookman put Andover ahead with two goals in three minutes and Ben McCready’s late effort was not enougn for United.
Matty Taylor made it 23 goals for the season with a brace on 29 and 49 minutes as North Leigh won 2-0 at Bideford.
