North Berks League Division 4 side Berinsfield pulled off another shock as they made the final of the War Memorial Cup with a 2-1 comeback win against Division 2 high-fliers Botley United, writes Phil Annets.
It is the third time this season that Berinsfield have defeated a Division 2 outfit, though they did it the hard way after Botley took a second-half lead through Kevin Walters.
However, goals from David Murphy and Barry Hayden won it for Berinsfield, who now meet Long Wittenham Athletic in the final at Wantage Town on April 15.
Division 2 side Wittenham booked their place after coming from behind to beat Stanford in the Vale 3-1 after extra time.
Kevin Buckingham put the Division 3 side in front, only for Dan Osborne to take the game into extra time.
Osborne’s second goal and a Tim Barton strike sealed it for Wittenham.
Didcot Casuals will face Lambourn Sports in the Charity Shield Cup final at Abingdon United FC on Saturday, April 30, after they beat AFC Wallingford 2-0 in the semi-finals, thanks to goals from Paul Powell and Lawrence Hoey.
