Mid Oxon are set for the biggest game in their history when they face holders Liverpool in the ESFA Under 15 Trophy semi-final at Chipping Norton tonight (7pm).
It’s the first time in more than 50 years of trying that Mid Oxon have reached the last four of schoolboy football’s most prestigious competition.
Mid Oxon are boosted by the return of captain Sam Humph-reys and Don Hyam following their 3-1 win over Coventry in the Hobbs Cup quarter-final on Saturday.
Humphreys was playing for Oxford United in their 2-0 loss at Yeovil in the Youth Alliance South West section, while Hyam was in action for Reading Under 16s at Portsmouth.
However, there are serious injury concerns over Harry Cornforth and Luke Turner, while Ryan Heap remains sidelined.
The winners will face Dacorum, who beat South London 5-4 on penalties after their semi-final finished 1-1 after extra time.
Mid Oxon enjoyed the perfect warm-up for the clash with the win over Coventry at Marlborough School, Woodstock.
Connor Robbins finished Liam Botcherby’s low cross to give Mid Oxon the lead.
Coventry equalised just before half-time, but Jacob Hughes restored Mid Oxon’s lead after the break.
Five minutes later, Yassin Elouahabi coolly chipped the ball over the Coventry keeper to clinch victory for Mid Oxon.
They now face Oxford City in the semi-finals.
Vale of White Horse await the winners following their hard-fought 2-1 semi-final win over Newbury at Kintbury FC.
Conor Ingram curled home a shot to give Vale an early lead.
The Newbury goalkeeper then dropped a cross, and Liam Painter scored from close range.
Newbury pulled a goal back in the second half.
VALE of White Horse Under 14s lost their 100 per cent record with a 1-0 defeat by Cheltenham in the Vale Cup at Milton United.
