KATHERINE Hawes helped England’s women retain the Clara Johns Trophy in the British Isles Indoor International Series at Stanley, County Durham.
The Oxford & District ace and her teammates enjoyed a clean sweep of wins, beating Ireland 171-75, Wales 148-94 and Scotland 160-75. Playing at No 2 in skip Amy Gowshall’s four, Hawes together with Amy Stanton and Jean Baker stormed to a 27-12 victory against their Irish opponents.
They had a tougher battle against Wales, winning 22-17, before crushing their Scottish rivals 31-7.
With the exception of three years, Hawes has been an ever-present for England in the annual event since making her debut in 1994.
Scotland finished runners-up, with Wales third and Ireland fourth.
