Dave Parsons led Oxford City’s veteran 55-64 team to silver in the British Masters National Cross Country Championships at Birmingham’s Alexander Stadium.
Parsons, 64, was the star turn for City as he earned individual bronze in the vet 60-64 category in a time of 31mins 53secs over eight kilometres.
He teamed up with Stewart Thorp and Richard Grant to take the age group silver.
Thorp was 14th in the 55-59 category in 32.01, with Grant crossing the line 16th in 32.07.
Meanwhile, Roy Treadwell took fifth place in the individual 60-64 age group as he clocked 32.19.
Andy Gleeson finished 26th in the 40-44 category, clocking 34.14, with Steve Male fourth in the 45-49 age group in 27.52.
Abingdon Ambler Paul Fernandez took silver in the men’s 35-39 age group, recording a time of 27.45.
In the women’s race over six kilometres, Gwyneth Hueter was 18th in 28.40.
- ABINGDON Amblers won a bronze medal in the Southern Region Cross Country Relay Championships at Wormwood Scrubs in London.
In the Under 17 race, Cordelia Parker, Ellie Wilkins and Lorel Scriven were third behind Guildford and Reading.
The Under 13 girls event was dominated by the top-class Bracknell outfit. However, the Abingdon squad of Georgia Harvey, Juliette Wells-Gray and Vicky Tilling rounded off a season of real progress by finishing 14th.
