Harry Worley lashed in a 59th-minute winner to give a much-changed Oxford United side a 2-1 victory at Port Vale and get their play-off push up and running again.
The U's came from behind to register the double over promotion-chasing Vale, and end their own run of three straight defeats.
Marc Richards followed up his own penalty, which Ryan Clarke had saved, to put the Valiants in front on 33 minutes.
But four minutes later Jack Midson equalised with a close-range header, after Alfie Potter's 25-yard drive was pushed against the bar by keeper Chris Martin.
Oxford climb one place to ninth, five points off the play-off places, with this win.
They next take on Stevenage at the Kassam Stadium on Tuesday, a run of three home matches in a row.
